A cinematic progressive folk meditation on humanity, greed, nature, and the fragile green world we share.
“El Verde” is a progressive folk piece that blends South American rhythmic traditions with expansive orchestral and rock elements. Built around the pulse of a chacarera groove, with bombo legüero and nylon guitars, the song unfolds through piano-driven harmony, electric guitars and bass, Andean quena, a lyrical bandoneón solo, and rich ensembles of strings and French horns. The result is a sound rooted in folkloric rhythm while moving freely through a broader, cinematic musical landscape.
The song tells a poetic story about humanity’s relationship with the natural world. Through vivid imagery such as the bleeding moon, forests fading, and the Earth being divided into pieces, the lyrics reflect on environmental destruction and the consequences of human greed. In its central section, Mother Earth herself speaks, confronting humanity with both pain and compassion, and reminding us that the life we depend on was born from her own fertile ground.
Featuring Andres Guazzelli on lead and backing vocals alongside a large choir of voices, “El Verde” also marks his first song performed entirely in Spanish. Written by Guazzelli, with lyrics co-written alongside Jack Dimensions, the piece ultimately balances warning with hope. It reflects on the fragile bond between humanity and the living world, and on the possibility of change through awareness and renewal.
Lyrics:
Sangra la Luna en el mar
Llanto pleno de dolor
La tierra repartiéndose
Verde, confuso color
Y aunque me estén destruyendo; bosque respira infinito.
