The Aftermath

Hey guys. Andres here. First of all, I wanna thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support. It means a great lot.

It’s been a long journey this past year and a half. Colin Tench‘s passing hit really close to home and affected me a great deal. But he was my staunchest supporter and would kick my ass if he believed I was slacking off. And since I prefer my asses unkicked, I was not.

I delayed an album to regroup and see where to take my career. Colin‘s passing made me reconsider a lot of things, and I’ve been quite active ever since. Mostly in his memory.

We released “August ” in his memory on February 2018. It was never meant to be a one-time, isolated thing so this is the “unofficial” official announcement (or series of announcements):

On June 18th I’ll be releasing a new single
“La Balada del Viento y el Tiempo”

La Balada del Viento y el Tiempo

The new track is a piano jazz ballad inspired in the poem “Размышления о ветре и времени” (trans. “Reflections on wind and time“) by Russian poetess Anastasía Romanova and portrays the struggles of two monumental and transcendental forces: the Wind, fierce, untamed and unpredictable, and Time, immutable, unchanging, eternal. It’s short and sweet, yet intense.

That being said, in terms of my-career-moving-forward, I somehow feel the ballad is a transitional single, sort of a “preamble” to larger releases.

Now, onto official announcements: “August” was meant to be the first of a trilogy in Colin’s memory. Around late July, we’ll be releasing “December (A Warm Embrace)“, six and a half minutes long. “August” was a farewell in a cold-winter morning. “December” is warm, full of lovely memories but with the nostalgia of missing who is no longer with us, and the emotional rollercoaster it forces us to endure.

Right after “December“, we decided to release “Across The Ocean“, a five-tracks EP. This will be my first material with vocals! Proper songs! YAY! We believe it’ll be out around September.

Around December 20th (my 35th birthday), the last third of the trilogy will be out: “April (The Final Acceptance)” (title still to be decided). April will NOT be released as a single, but as the third track of an EP along with August and December. The whole EP is a journey through grief, sorrow, melancholy, nostalgia, and finally, making peace with our loss. It even has some unused and unheard Colin guitar takes. I still haven’t come up with a name for the album, so I accept suggestions!

Around March 2020, “World Citizen” will hit the market. Another 5-tracks-EP; a conceptual follow-up to “Across The Ocean“. There’s another EP in store after WC, but let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. Let’s enjoy these ones first.

Stay tuned for 2021. With 4 or 5 EPs already under my belt, Wötan: The Untold Story will be back!

So anyway, just wanted to catch up with you and let you know what I’ve been up to. I’m not slacking off. And never will.

For Colin.
